A successful artist has teamed up with an established interior designer to launch a new creative centre for Milton Keynes.
Stony Stratford Gallery and Adolpho Designs, which have more than 20 years of experience between them, will open at the end of April, offering high-quality art and bespoke design services.
The two businesses complement each other perfectly, and will operate next door to one another in Stony Stratford High Street.
Luke McDonnell, the owner of Stony Stratford Gallery set up graphic design agency Chiba Creative five years ago.
The business quickly attracted attention and his work is in demand internationally; Luke has recently produced pieces in New York, Portugal and the Channel Islands.
He has just returned from a commission in Spain where he worked on illustrations for a new documentary. The results will be aired on Netflix in late 2019.
Luke is also responsible for the eye-catching large scale commission of Queen Eleanor of Castile in Stony Stratford.
He wants the gallery to offer a platform to rising talents as well as established artists.
“I really want to give great local artists the opportunity to exhibit their work alongside big names in the industry,” Luke said.
The gallery will focus on contemporary works, with a healthy amount of traditional pieces, through a blend of sculpture, ceramics and paintings.
He added: “Everyone talks about the 'death of the high street', but Stony is brimming with life. “There are so many interesting craft shops, homeware stores, traditional hardware stores, and endless restaurants, coffee shops and pubs.
“I'm excited to offer another experience and help contribute to the great footfall we already have.”
Julie Adolpho is the brains behind Adolpho Designs, which offers tailor-made solutions to interior design requirements. Her keen eye and great understanding of interior design means she can bring a touch of magic to small spaces just as easily as large-scale projects.
She said: I pride myself on an approachable, relaxed style of working, and I really get to know my clients. Understanding their tastes and how they live is important. It means I can create unique designs that are not just aesthetically pleasing, but also offer practical living solutions.
“I understand the stress and chaos sometimes associated with projects, and we're here to take that element away from clients.
“I believe in beautiful design and creativity, pushing boundaries and importantly listening to the client to achieve visionary results. I'm looking forward to transforming living spaces and helping clients to appreciate the true beauty of home.”
The new gallery and showrooms at 73 High Street, Stony Stratford will open their doors with a special champagne launch weekend on April 26 (10am-7pm) April 27 (10am-3pm) & 28 (11am-3pm).
Everyone is welcome to visit and enjoy the red carpet experience, and be among the first to check out the exciting new venture.
