Fair/passes the time
Young and innocent student Anastasia (Dakota Johnson) interviews handsome billionaire, and patron of her College, for a student publication. Drawn to him despite her sexual inexperience, he invites her to sample the delights of a dominant/submissive sado-masochist relationship.
Review
E.L. James' upmarket, yummy-mummy's 'spank-buster' rockets onto the big screen, with more Daily Mail Online 'right side-bar of shame' pieces than any other celeb story going for the past year (the film was completed just after Valentine's Day last year so its release was, wisely, kept back until Valentine's this year).
It won't win any of the big awards this season, certainly not for the clumsy and indelicately written dialogue and a story that, considering it has S&M as its core selling point, features very little of such action for a two hour plus movie. If one is a purveyor of such things, of course.
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson make a smashingly sexy couple, both quite happy to whip 'em off with gay abandon throughout the movie and help make an essentially tepid and underwhelming movie tantalisingly enjoyable.
