Loved by those of us who call it home and see Milton Keynes as a hub for creativity, diversity and a region that has an unwavering 'can-do' attitude, the new city is all too frequently the subject of ill-humour and downright nastiness by others.
It is often slated by those who feel sufficiently knowledgeable to be able to pass judgement on the 'concrete' region, despite never having sampled the qualities that are numerous.
Now, a new book by artist Cathy Read shows our home in a colourful new light.
Commissioned in 2012, 'the aim was to reflect the life of this dynamic city and show a cultured side to an often maligned place,' Cathy explained.
The result, The Milton Keynes Project pulls together 20 paintings, featured with the reference photos and work-in-progress shots allowing you to explore the process of each piece.
Featured landmarks include The Point and various other prominent architecture examples, and not forgetting those hard-faced concrete cows...
The book retails at £19.95 (HB) and £14.95 (PB) and is available to purchase through Amazon.
