MK Feast returns this Sunday, taking over the tranquil Bradwell Abbey site with fabulous food, delicious drinks and awesome arts - all made right here in Milton Keynes.
It’s all about giving a platform to the food and drink producers on our doorsteps. Why shop for bland from the supermarket shelves when you can give in to local temptations?
Minkie Moo Bakery will be selling on the day, with a truly superb line in cake, and if the most ambitious you’ve ever been is working a Victoria Sponge, these guys will blow your mind.
They have a great range of vegan offerings too, because there is no reason to miss out when you leave animal produce behind.
Minkie Moo were among those selling their wares at the first MK Feast earlier in the year - and they sold out of everything by 1pm.
Move quick if you want to give your tastebuds a sweet treat!
Name of business
Minkie Moo Bakery
Specialising in:
We specialise in quirky Buttercream & Raw Vegan Wedding Cakes, but are very
much 'foodies', so absolutely love selling all our other tasty wares at Food Festivals and local Farmer's Markets - always including plenty of Gluten Free options with some Vegan thrown in too.
We also supply small snack-size cakes to Franzi for her wonderful new micro pub The Biergarten and are very
pleased to say, they have been extremely well received.
What do you bring to the table?
There are many cake makers out there, some of them amazing, some of them not so... we like to think we bring a real passion to our cakes with a massive emphasis on quality, flavour and attention to detail.
But mainly, it's our creative approach!
Our cakes are quite often a bit 'out there' in design and will take inspiration from vintage colours/fashion/fabrics, or kitsch
styling.
Being brought up in a south coast seaside town, there is a natural love of bold colours and all things kitsch, which just can't be ignored! Our Raw Vegan cakes are a fairly new addition to our repertoire and are becoming really popular.
We absolutely love them and it seems, so do MK - they of course, get the same creative input be it a large wedding or birthday cake,or our mini versions we sell at markets - they all really 'pack a punch' both visually and in flavour.
As much organic produce as possible is used in all our cakes and if eggs are in the mix they are always free range and more
often than not, from some local village hens we happen to know called 'The
Rock Chicks' - Beyonce, Kylie, Witney, Cilla and Alice [Cooper].
For our Raw
Vegan cakes, we make our own handmade Raw Chocolate for decoration and use organic locally grown edible flowers by Branch-out MK in Stony Stratford we love those guys.
Tell us about your most mouthwatering line…
When we are selling at a market or festival, we try to provide things we would like to eat too - there's always something with chocolate, usually our infamous Gluten Free brownies which sell out real quick!
Our Orange & Almond mini loaves (flour and dairy free) are a massive hit wherever we go and our mini Raw Vegan cheesecakes are equally bought by non vegan customers as not only are they cute to look at, they taste amazing and being naturally gluten and sugar free, are SO good for you!
What makes your business unique?
Making cakes is a stressful, but rewarding business, even if just making some tray bakes! Ours are all made at home in small batches from our little country cottage kitchen by the river and hopefully, deliver that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you eat something so delicious you never want it to end!
Where can people find you online?
At www.minkiemoobakery.co.uk We also LOVE Instagram/MinkiemooBakery, Twitter@MinkiemooBakery and
Facebook/MinkiemooBakery. Or people can find us at Olney, Woburn Sands, Wolverton, Stony Stratford and Newport Pagnell markets and of course, MK Feast.
Who would be your perfect dinner date?
My gran became ill with Dementia quite a few years ago and sadly died in the summer of 2013. She would be my 'ideal dinner date' as she had a massively sweet tooth, but never got to taste one of my cakes - a fresh strawberry buttercream layer cake would be the winning combo for that super lady!
The second MK Feast runs at Bradwell Abbey between 11am and 4pm on Sunday (July 24).
