Maaya is the first and only independent restaurant in The Hub district of Milton Keynes, and this month celebrates its first anniversary.
Maaya Indian Kitchen & Bar, owned by four local entrepreneurs, opened last year after converting an empty office space in a lavish and modern Indian restaurant.
After investing over £1/2 million in the transformation, Maaya has delivered in more ways than one.
“From day one the business has been busy and it took a few months of fine tune our service and food but we are now producing some of the finest Indian dishes in the region.” Said Mo Abdul, manager and co-owner of Maaya.
He adds: “We have built a wonderful following of customers, some of which come back every week but we are also delighted to see new people find us, whether through word of mouth or simply stumbling across us. We are continuing to invest in improvements to the restaurant and put on events that give our customers a wonderful overall experience.”
On Thursday, April 27, Maaya will host is first anniversary party, including live music, dancers, a DJ, a specially created four course meal and they have promised many surprises throughout the evening. Tickets cost £24.95 per person and includes all of the above, but spaces are strictly limited for the event that starts at 8pm.
Over the past twelve months, Maaya has hosted a comedy night, jazz evenings and wine pairing nights.
Maaya is a regular supporter of local charities and has given away more than 50 prizes as raffles and recently sponsored Bradwell Village Pre-School’s new uniform.
The restaurant has even created a Braille menu for customers with visual impairment.
In November last year, Maaya was short-listed in the British Curry Awards – the ‘Oscars of the Indian Restaurant Industry’ and last year was also runner up in the Milton Keynes Food and Leisure Awards.
Mo adds: “We work as a complete unit to use our resources and make Maaya a success.
The staff work very hard to ensure our customers have a first class experience while the chefs use their experience and passion to create the very best in Indian cuisine. I would like to thank everyone who has supported us and helped give an independent business the best chance possible for success – here’s to the next 12 months.”
