Danny Vaughn comes to Milton Keynes with Snake Oil & Harmony

Danny Vaughn may be best-known in the rock world as the frontman of melodic hard rockers Tyketto, but his solo project ‘Myths, Legends & Lies’ saw him step outside the bastion of melodic rock, boldly venturing into new territory.

Many have called the album Danny’s masterwork.

In particular, ‘Myths, Legends & Lies’ has gained much admiration in the folk and Americana world, not least because of Danny’s much-respected vocals, but because of his outstanding talent for telling stories in song as a lyricist.

‘Kelly’s Gone’ again shows Danny’s gift as a lyricist and storyteller.

“It has been pointed out to me that I write a fair amount of songs about strong women,” Danny reflects, “In this case, a woman who has had enough of every aspect of her life so she packs her belongings into the truck, leaves a note behind and heads out to destination unknown.

“That might have something to do with my upbringing. My parents separated when I was eight years old. We lived in New York City, a tough place to be on one’s own, but she moved across town, got herself a good job and a new apartment, made a new set of friends and got on with things.

“I wrote ‘Kelly’s Gone’ while living in Nashville, trying to make some headway there as so many musicians do.

"In Nashville you are, of course, surrounded by the country music industry, which was booming at the time. Like all forms of popular culture, some of it is very good and true to itself but a lot of it is junk and formulaic.

"It always makes me laugh that anytime a vehicle is mentioned in a country song it will be a Ford or a Chevy. Know what the number one selling brand of truck in America is? Toyota. So -adamant that I would not completely swim with all the other fish - I gave Kelly a Toyota. I made my mark. I made my indelible point. I never did make any money there though.

“But you know what? I also couldn’t ever get the song off of my mind. And neither could my friends that had heard it. That’s good enough for me.”

In 2020, Danny will also be continuing his work with Tyketto and touring with his other critically-acclaimed project: Snake Oil & Harmony. Snake Oil & Harmony pairs Danny Vaughn with Dan Reed of Dan Reed Network.

They will be calling in at The Craufurd Arms on Friday, March 13 as they continue touring in support of their debut album ‘Hurricane Riders.'

Both artists are thrilled to be taking the album out on the road, along with their respective solo material (and classic Dan Reed Network and Tyketto songs on the bill as well).
