FOR ONE NIGHT ONLY: DAVID BOWIE EXHIBITION DOCUMENTARY AIRS ON THE BIG SCREEN
A unique insight into the Victoria and Albert Museum's groundbreaking, hugely popular David Bowie exhibition arrives on the big screen this month – when David Bowie Is shows at Cineworld Milton Keynes.
It featured more than 300 objects from the Bowie archive and the exhibition was the fastest-selling in the Victoria and Albert Museum's history.
More than 200,000 people saw the show here in the UK – 67,000 tickets were snapped up even before the doors opened on the remarkable collection.
The documentary – airing on Tuesday, November 18 was filmed on the closing night of the V&A exhibition in London. It was directed by Hamish Hamilton, the BAFTA award-winning director of the Academy Awards and the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The film takes the audience on an extraordinary journey through the David Bowie Is exhibition with special guests including legendary Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto, Pulp front-man Jarvis Cocker, and other collaborators, to explore the stories behind some of the key objects that document Bowie’s artistic career.
The exhibition curators, Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh, provide a fascinating insight into the most memorable music videos and original costumes, as well as more personal items such as never-before-seen handwritten lyrics, album cover artwork, set designs and diary entries, which reveal the creativity and evolution of Bowie’s ideas.
In a statement, Victoria and Geoffrey said: “We are delighted that as this extraordinary exhibition travels the world, people will get the chance to immerse themselves in a cinematic experience from the original London show.
“The film offers fascinating detail about key objects from the David Bowie archive, commentary from special guest contributors and a fantastic soundtrack!”
The documentary begins at 8.45pm. To book your seat visit www.cineworld.co.uk
