Pennsylvanian players Crobot (above) pull into The Craufurd Arms on Tuesday (Nov 10) night as part of their UK tour.
The press release to promote this road trek hits the nail on the head with its first three words; 'Dirty. Groove. Rock.'
And that's as sweet a summary as anything you'll hear about these fellas.
They tickle in funk, blues, metal and rock and roll, with the members – vocalist Brandon Yeagley, guitarist Bishop, bassist Jake Figueroa and his percussionist brother Paul – yearning to bring back those big riffs that are all too frequently lacking today.
Whether on Derek and the Dominoes Layla or RATM's Killing in the Name, a gargantuan riff can never be underestimated.
“We grew up with the same riff rock and it's seemingly lacking in today's music,” Brandon says, “We really seem to like the rock of old and felt that was missing.”
“It seemed like once we started jamming we didn't try to find a certain sound or didn't try to write a certain style, that's just the stuff that came out 'cause that's the shit we like, the stuff we listen to,” Jake added.
“It was much more of a subconscious effort. Crobot defined itself.”
You can hear more of that definition on their debut album, Something Supernatural.
The disc was produced by Machine, who has also set at the helm of recordings by Lamb of God and Clutch.
Speaking of Clutch, Crobot will see the year out with a brace of live shows supporting Neil Fallon's mob. Forget a night to remember, it'll be a New Year's Eve to remember for those lucky enough to be in Cincinnati on December 31.
But you don't need to wait that long, of course. As we said, they'll be local on Tuesday night, with label-mates Scorpion Child (above) making their return to the Wolverton watering-hole.
Buffalo Summer will open the bill and tickets are £10 in advance. Doors open at 7.30pm.
