ON TRACK: JARET REDDICK ANSWERS OUR QUESTIONS

Taking a break from the 'day job', Bowling for Soup frontman Jaret Reddick will be in Milton Keynes this week coming, with his other musical pack, People on Vacation.

A new album - The Chronicles of Tim Powers - is in the racks now.  Plenty of you will have connected with the super-duper catchy single You May Not Believe in God, already, but come Monday night you'll get a whole load more for your money when POV play live at The Craufurd Arms.

Jaret shared his musical likes and dislikes with Total MK...

The song that awakened your musical senses

Crazy Train by Ozzy

Physical or digital – how do you take your music?

Digital now – almost exclusively

The first time you thought – 'Music, this is the job for me'

I think I had dreams of it as a kid, but I grew up fast... I really didn't think of it being a career again until Bowling For Soup played a huge show in about 1996. At that point I knew we were on to something!

Your best on stage memory...

That's a tough one. Probably the first Download we did Main Stage. I will never forget that

And the worst gig you have ever done...

Because of us? Or the crowds? We have played some sh**ty towns and both have been at fault. I HATE weddings. We get asked to do them a LOT, and people get their feelings hurt...It's hard to understand that though THEY want us there, the rest of the wedding attendees don't give a sh*t and want to celebrate good times!

What made you take up the guitar

I didn't have a choice. I was a drummer, but I wanted to do original music and the guys I played with wouldn't write songs. So I got a guitar and just started doing it myself

Which one song by another artist do you wish you had written

Imagine by John Lennon, or Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional

And one – by yourself – which holds special significance

I love them all like my children. But I guess I would have to say Friends of Mine

If you could step into the shoes of another musician, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do?

I would step into Billy Joe Armstrong's shoes and do a collaboration with ME!

Are there any current musical influences you might look to

I have been listening to a lot of Texas Country, not the poppy bullsh*t. Probably a lot of stuff you have never heard of. Also, I am fairly sure that Frank Turner struck a deal with the devil.

He's amazing!

And any genre of music that you simply can't stand?

I HATE the Blues. I just don't understand it. I get that a lot of what we all hear and do is based on it, but I just don't appreciate it at all

Finally, tell us what we can expect at The Craufurd Arms?

A fantastic show from a band I really care about. I will always be in Bowling For Soup, but I hope people will come and listen. People on Vacation is something special!

Tickets are on sale at £12, doors at 7.30pm.
