After a five year absence, Raghu Dixit is coming back to the UK with his potent seven-piece multilingual band - and Milton Keynes is in his sights.
The ‘#Shakkar’ UK Tour 2023 will be sweet indeed, as that’s what this Hindi word means in English.
The singer, producer and film score composer has been described by The Guardian as “India's biggest cultural export in recent times”.
The frontman and the band are no stranger to the UK’s big stages, having appeared at Glastonbury, Lovebox, Latitude, Celtic Connections and more; and have gigged internationally. They have also previously performed for Royalty, with a show marking Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee at Windsor Castle. A new album is planned for later in the year, and his self-titled debut reached number 1 on the iTunes World Music Chart in the UK.

Described by Jools Holland when they appeared on ‘Later…’ as simply, “A Beautiful Sound from India”, Raghu Dixit performs energetic and uplifting music that blends Indian ethnic styles and modes with influences from the four corners of the globe.
The songs are, generally, delivered in the Kannada, Tamil and Hindi languages. The result is a feel good mix of energy and virtuosity that has seen Raghu Dixit recognised the world over, but specifically in the UK with a Songlines Newcomer Artist Award and a ‘Best Live Act’ UK Asian Music Award.
Raghu Dixit will play The Stables at Wavendon on Wednesday, June 28, and the show promised to be uplifting, sweet and packed with energy.
