The Bellrays make a rare UK appearance on Friday night (April 29) at Bedford Esquires.
It's all a long way from home for the Californian crew who first started making music together 25 years ago.
Theirs is the sound of an amped up 70's Detroit band fronted by a punk rock Aretha Franklin, in the shape, and lung capacity, of Lisa Kekaula – Basement Jaxx fans will have tipped their ears her way before now too – it's her voice on the early noughties smash hit Good Luck.
Not that there's any need to discuss ages-old guest spots when the Bellrays have littered retailer racks with more than a dozen albums themselves.
They don't make it to this side of the Atlantic often, and you have comedian Stewart Lee to thank for this show – he invited them to appear at a festival he is curating, and a select few dates got tagged on at the same time.
Tickets are £10 in advance, and worth picking up whether you have a penchant for blues, rock n roll, punk or soul, 'cause The Bellrays have it all by the bucketload.
