SINGLE LAUNCH PARTY AT THE STABLES FOR SOUL URBAN POET
Soul Urban Poet has a new single on the way, and the official launch party for I Love It! is this Friday night (Oct 31) at The Stables.
It will be the third single lifted from his second album, A Soul New Chapter, which is set for release early in 2015.
"I chose this as a single because I feel it sums me and my music up in one track. I was inspired to write the song about today's music industry - especially the hip-hop genre," he told Total MK.
"I feel the genre has gone from being all about the love of the music, and the time and love the artist used to put into making it to now being about how they look, what car they drive and all the money they make.
"What's worse for me is that people see this and assume this is now hip-hop and the cliches that go with it.
"Most people assume when you say you are a hip-hop artist you are automatically going to be rapping about violence, sex, drugs and money, so I made this track simply to say that it's just not like that.
"I don't live that life and I am definitely not about to start pretending that I do. I'm just your average guy writing about every day issues and the things that have happened in my life.
"Sometimes it can have its negatives, as life can be like that at points, but I always try to keep it positive and you will hear that, not just on this single, but throughout my new album."
It will be quite the show too, as the Stage 2 performance also features another MK artist, singer-songwriter Tony Hill (below): "I'm a big fan of his music and he is so different from my style I feel it will make the night diverse but in a really good way,: Soul told Total MK.
Also showing out at the event will be MK DJ Wattsie taking care of deck deliveries: "...to give it that kind of nightclub feel," Soul explained, "something I know is new for The Stables..."
Tickets are on sale at £8.50 in advance.
