SONISPHERE SPECIAL: ON TRACK - KERBDOG
Critically acclaimed alt-rockers Kerbdog issued two superb albums in the 1990s before calling time in 1998.
The band first reformed in 2005, and have announced the release of a live album - Congregation will be released in September.
The Irish alt-rock mob will play the Sonisphere festival on Sunday, July 6 and have also announced plans for a much-anticipated UK tour.
Singer and guitarist Cormac Battle tackled our On Track questions...
The song that first awakened your musical senses
Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime
Physical or digital - how do you take your music?
Physical, minus 1000Kbps is the great rock n roll swindle
The first time you thought 'Music - this is the job for me'
On hearing AC/DCs Hells Bells, realising how drums are THE best instrument.
After listening to the track maybe 20 times I walked outside my front door and found a wallet.
My friend was selling a drum kit for the same amount in that wallet
Your best on stage memory
Supporting Therapy? at a sold put brixton Academy back in the day.
Never experienced an atmosphere or crowd feedback as good. Insane energy, a true example of a band - audience symbiosis. Special.
And the worst gig you've ever done
Supporting Moby a few years back in Galway, Ireland. Somehow we were on before the gates opening?
As Battle jokingly said 'Goodnight' to an empty field a few thousand people swarmed to the stage . Only in Ireland...However, Moby being the gent that he is, brought us some iced champagne to apologise and asked us to play with him again
Which one song by another artists do you wish you had written
AC/DC - Back in Black
And one - by yourself - which holds special significance
Earthworks - I brought the demo to a house party when I was 19, put it on, turned it up, folks went nuts, concrete walls came down, literally. Job done!
If you could step into the shoes of another musician, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do
Phil Lynott. Write another epic record and wind down on the elbow refreshments
Are there any current musical influences that you might look to
Queens of the Stone Age
And any genre of music that you simply can't stand
Country
Given the chance, whose set would you most like to catch over the Sonisphere weekend
Alice in Chains. Last time I saw them was at the Kentish Tow Forum with Layne.
Sublime. First time was the Camden Underworld, my No1 show of all time.
What can we expect from your Sonisphere set?
An explosion of raucous din! The heaviest set in our artillery. War on the senses!
