Breaking away from his day job as front man with I Am Kloot, John Bramwell (above) is currently stepping out solo, delivering songs from the back catalogue, and those on the current – debut - EP release Leave Alone the Empty Spaces.
The Mercury Music prize nominee calls in at The Stables this Friday night (Dec 11) and comes armed with poetry, great guitar playing, that unique voice of his, and just a splattering of chaos.
The Guardian warns you to expect a night that is 'slightly chaotic, utterly compelling, quite beautiful and frequently hilarious.'
It's a highlight in another busy week for the venue, which also sees Richard Durrant's return on Wednesday (Dec 16).
The maverick barefoot musician, composer and world class guitar virtuoso (below) is being joined in seasonal play by special guest, singer Amy Kakoura.
Durrant's inspiration comes from christian, pagan and folk traditions, and when you fuse that with his own distinctive originality, you'll get a live show a million miles removed from the more commercial aspects normally presented this time of the year.
“I have a deep love of music that evokes the middle of winter and my acoustic instruments, with the help of Amy's voice (half Irish, half Greek), seems to go in search of the magic that surrounds both the solstice and Christmas,” Richard said.
Enjoy their Candlelit Christmas Guitar tour at the Wavendon haunt from 8pm.
