A remembrance service was held today (Friday November 11) at the MK Rose in Campbell Park to commemorate Armistice Day.
The event was attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes’ Mayor and Mayoress, the Mayor of Newport Pagnell and the Leader of Milton Keynes Council.
A number of distinguished WWII veterans as well as representatives of the Naval, Sea and Army cadets also attended the event alongside local schools, numbering over 150 school children, and members of the public.
The morning event included songs by Bradwell Village school choir, speeches, a poem reading, and the laying of wreaths by Frances Skelton DL (on behalf of Lord Lieutenant Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher), the Royal British Legion and others.
A two minute silence was also held to remember all of those who have lost their lives in conflict.
The Mayor, Steve Coventry said: “It was wonderful to see so many people attending this incredibly important remembrance service for Armistice Day at MK Rose. I’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came to pay their respects”
