SHEEPISH BEHAVIOUR BY THE PARKS TRUST

The City's popular flock of sheep are set to make their return to Campbell Park next week, to continue their conservation work.

The flock of 100 sheep graze around half the park, as part of The Parks Trust's farming portfolio.

The large grass area offers perfect grazing for the sheep, which will be resident in the area for at least three weeks.

Periodic grazing is also a vital conservation tool, helping to manage large areas of grassland in order to create a much richer diversity of wildlife.

It deters scrub and encourages the growth and spread of wildflower in the grass rich meadows.

Please can we remind dog owners to keep your dogs close, calm and on a short leaf, and stay nice and clear of livestock,” said landscape and operations director, Rob Riekie.

Cyclists and walkers are advised to slow down and also keep clear of the sheep and take particular care when travelling through grazing areas.”
