#MK50: Thornton Wilder's Our Town gets an airing at Stantonbury Theatre in Milton Keynes

“Although set in small town America in a place called Grover’s Corners at the turn of the last century, it could be anywhere," says Rosemary Hill, the producer and director of a production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, coming to the Stantonbury Theatre stage next week.

"Thornton Wilder tried in this play to endow individual experience with cosmic significance and “ Our Town” is not just an affectionate portrait of ordinary people in a small town, it is also an attempt to find value in the smallest events in our daily life.

"The themes are universal – the strength of community, the importance and joy of everyday things and how everyone has a story. As such it could be Milton Keynes as we celebrate its fiftieth birthday," Rosemary said.

Peppers Ghost and The plays The Thing Theatre Companies have combined forces to bring the work to life. It is part of MK50 “Home Sweet Home” project with Grid Arts.

Performances are Wednesday to Saturday (November 1-4) at 7.30pm nightly. An additional matinee will run at 2.30pm on Saturday. Tickets are £15 and £13 (concessions) and you get them by clicking here
