This week is the fourth instalment in the Music in the Garden season in Wavendon, and this weekend's musical opportunities are fabulous.
Things get underway on Saturday (July 4) afternoon with clarinettist Emma Johnson.
If you reach back to the early days of jazz, you'll see that the clarinet was a dominant instrument, but it faded somewhat, overtaken by the saxophone as the reed instrument of choice.
But the fightback has begun, and the clarinet is once again asserting itself.
Emma (below) was a favourite player of the late, great John Dankworth, so much so that he composed several pieces of work for her.
In Clarinet Goes to Town she will explore some of the elements - ragtime, cakewalks and habanera included - that fused together and made for an explosion of popular culture in the 20th century.
On Sunday (July 5), Mark Nightingale and Rob Fowler perform with A Tribute to Mulligan and Brookmeyer.
As a composer, arranger, saxophonist and conductor, Mulligan played a vital role in the history of modern jazz and contemporary music.
His quartet with trombonist Brookmeyer was regarded as one of the formative line-up of its era.
Internationally acclaimed jazz soloist Mark, and sax-y ace Rob Fowler, who has performed widely around the world, (most recently as a member of The Bryan Ferry Orchestra) are the perfect players to 'play' tribute.
They go live at 11.30am, and then from 2.30pm, singer and keyboardist Charlie Wood (above) takes over.
His performance at Music in the Garden last year was a summer highlight, and his return will be every bit as exciting.
Charlie will be joined by a band of brilliance as he digs into his current album, New Souvenirs.
He's a bit special is Mr Wood.
Revered in his homeland, he is the recipient of a Brass Note on Beale Street in Memphis, and has stage-shared with legends including the late, great B.B.King.
Paloma Faith is a huge fan, and you will be too, if you take a ticket and listen in on Sunday.
A special guest recently announced her plans to perform at the event - Dame Cleo Laine will perform at the show in her back garden.
It's going to be an afternoon to remember.
Total MK will see you there.
