Phoenix Rising:MK is holding a major three-day festival at Milton Keynes Museum this week, running alongside a month-long exhibition of art and photography.
"The 'B.U.' FESTIVAL is all about being proud of who you are, accepting yourself and others with all our differences, challenges and insecurities and the enriching qualities that diversity of all kinds can bring to our communities," said Adrian Pinckard, from the day service provider for adults with learning disabilities and support needs based in Milton Keynes.
"Whilst the key thrust of our festival will be to promote, celebrate and champion the positive and often unrecognised contribution that people with learning difficulties, disabilities and neurodiversity can make to our community, we also want to draw attention to the value and contribution of all people regardless of their background. It will be a fantastic opportunity for adults with support needs to be able to display their abilities and stand shoulder-to- shoulder in a mainstream setting."
