ECHO MAKES WAVES WITH HIS STROKES

Castle Galleries in the centre:mk is currently showcasing water inspired art which has been created using Dulux paint!

Artist Alex Echo is the man whose brush strokes have been making waves, quite literally.

The critically acclaimed abstract creative has some pretty famous fans - Oprah Winfrey, Robert Downey Jr and Cindy Crawford among them.

Those with arty-eyes say Alex's work has an exquisite chaos, and conjures a cacophony of emotions that are beautiful and melancholic at the same time.

Royalties from each piece in the Infinite Ballet collection will be donated to the WaterAid charity, and so far sales of his artwork have raised in excess of £500,000 to support charities across the world.

His SWATCH watch, Imagine Love, for example, sold more than 153,000 worldwide, and the royalties were given to paediatric AIDS charities.

The water paintings merge the beauty and history of Impressionism with a new language of technique and style - you'll see shades of Turner and Rothko in evidence.

Addressing the charitable side, Echo said: They are 'water' paintings - and in a small attempt at giving a little something back to this beautiful earth, its oceans, rivers and lakes which dazzle my eyes daily, I am donating all of my royalties from these prints to Water-Aid UK."

Pete Viet Lu is manager of Castle Gallery in Milton Keynes: "When viewing Echo's collection, his journey is evident," he said.

'He's grasped life and celebrated it, and we are delighted to have his work on display; it's a real asset to the UK's art scene."

Echo's work will be on display in the gallery until March 15.
