Officers locate body of a woman in Stony Stratford

Officers searching for a missing person have located the body of a woman in Stony Stratford, Milton Keynes.

 

Mary Frankham, aged 68, was reported missing on 14 February, after last being seen at around 6.40am that same day in Stony Stratford.

Police and volunteer search teams have been working to locate her since.

Yesterday (Saturday) the body of a woman was recovered from a river in Stony Stratford.

Although formal identification is yet to take place, the woman is believed to be Mary Frankham.

Detective Constable Christopher Bigg, said: “Officers have been carrying out extensive searches in an attempt to find Mary Frankham. Tragically a woman’s body has been discovered. Her next of kin have been informed and are being offered support.

“I would like to thank members of the community who have contributed in helping us with our enquiries, and I would like to take the opportunity to thank them for their support.

“We regret to have to bring you this sad news.”

The death is being treated as unexplained, but not believed to be suspicious.

A file will now be prepared for the coroner.
