ON STAGE: JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR AT MILTON KEYNES THEATRE

The world's oldest story plays out on the stage of MK Theatre this coming week, with the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, Jesus Christ Superstar.

The work originally took the West End by storm in 1971 and told the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus, through the eyes of the bad guy, Judas Iscariot.

Producer Bill Kenwright and director Bob Samson are back on board for this masterly revival of the award-winning musical, and there has been some clever casting too.

Leading performer Glenn Carter is Jesus, delivering a role he has already taken to the West End and Broadway, and performed on film.

Australian Tim Rogers is cast as Judas, and one time X-Factor participant Rachel Adedeji is Mary Magdalene - joining the company fresh from the UK and European tour of Thriller Live.

"There are so many different ways that the story has been written and this is one of the nicest versions I've read," she said.

"It's beautiful and pretty straightforward and you don't have to be a believer or know the story to understand the musical, you just need to sit back and watch."

You get to do just that from Monday (July 13) when the show begins a six-day stay at the venue.
