POP ART: ROMERO BRITTO VIBRANCY COMES TO CASTLE GALLERIES

Internationally renowned artist Romero Britto has teamed up with Washington Green, the UK’s leading fine art publisher, to release a new collection of works in his iconic style – and they will be available to buy from Castle Galleries in thecentre:mk starting today (Aug 14).

The newly curated collection, self-titled Romero Britto, gives art lovers the opportunity to enjoy and buy this new exclusive body of work on British soil for the first time.

In his signature Pop Art style, vibrant colour, playful themes and hard‐edged compositions all figure.

A series of hand signed limited edition sculptures and canvas prints comprise the collection, with Britto’s bright and bold creations designed to evoke feelings of happiness, hope and love.

Brazilian‐born and Miami‐made, the self-taught artist was inspired by the works of Matisse and Picassso in his youth, before finding fame in America in the 1980s where Pop Art was flourishing.

"Art can make you look at something in an exciting and totally different way. It can give you the power to 'fly,'” Britto says, explaining why optimism is the source of his artistic influence.

I get my inspiration from simple things in life…from beautiful things that happen around me, things that make me happy and leave me inspired!

Romero Britto- Love me Tender

"Drawing upon Cubist and Pop Art influences, Britto has created a new and inspiring trademark style recognised the world over.

Our new never before seen collection in collaboration with Britto provides the British public with the opportunity to buy his work in the UK for the first time. We anticipate the collection will appeal to a broad spectrum of collectors and art lovers alike.”

Britto has exhibited in 30 countries across four continents, and collaborated with some of the most famous global brands including Coca Cola, Bentley and Disney.

The New York Times says his work 'exudes warmth, optimism and love,' and the recognition has now extended into sports - earlier this year he was named Olympic Ambassador for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games – as a global representative for the event Britto will be rallying fans worldwide through his art.

Britto is also dedicated to engaging children in arts education and literacy programs.

Through his namesake company, Britto Central, Inc., he serves as a benefactor, donating time, art and resources to more than 250 charitable organisations, most recently The Prince’s Trust - he was appointed Director and Trustee in May of this year.
