Rock fans might like to ditch the Saturday night small screen bile this week (March 10), in preference of a full live music fill at the Wolverton haunt, where Amplifier will be plugged in.
After 14 years at work, eight albums released and countless gigs, they remain one of the ‘best kept’rock secrets to come from this country.
Last year’s album, Trippin with Dr Faustus was described by critics as a ‘career highlight,’ and you can bet they’ll be using the show to crack open that can of class.
But they’ll also be playing material from a crowd sourced setlist - fans have spent the last six month voting for their favourite Ampy moments.
Support at the show is coming from Sheffield’s Awooga who are gearing up for the release of their debut album next month.
Conduit - the product of a year’s work - promises to be a deep, heavy, tranquil and visceral piece of work, with high hopes of moving Awooga into pole position.
The record will follow on from their 2016 debut EP Alpha, and further explores the boundaries of dismal sludge and euphoric space. ‘It flows, it confuses, it’s conflicted and it’s beautiful,’ the band promise. Wrap your ears around the opus and you’ll instantly be rewarded with a nod to their inspirations - a heady mix of Zappa, Alice in Chains and Tool, together with a nod to Miles Davis.
Admit it, you are tempted, right?
