Hotly-tipped London swell Masakichi take root at Bedford Esquires this Friday evening (April 8) with a promise of post-rock and shoegaze on the menu.
Masakichi have only been together for a short-time, but have already received plenty of plaudits for their mini-album ‘Hummingbird’, released last year on the Fierce Panda record label, home to the early releases from the likes of Coldplay, Ash and Placebo – and now MK's own Sean Grant & the Wolfgang.
This will be a night for fans of groups like My Bloody Valentine, Mogwai, I Break Horses and The Joy Formidable.
Masakichi deftly combine fuzzed up indie rock and electronic beats with founding member Reuben Gotto taking inspiration working as a guitar tech with indie heavyweights Foals, The Maccabees and Alt-J. T
Broken DC are also on the billing, with a sound ranging from atmospheric instrumentals to full on garage rock by way of Joy Division.
‘Powerful, melodic, loud and tight in equal measure,' one writer observed.
Opening the evening will be gentle acoustic tones of Minnie Birch and the soundscapes of Hitchin’s Thousand Suns, who were formed from the ashes of local heroes Minor Pilot.
Tickets for this mind-bending evening of music talent are £7 in advance and you get them from www.wegottickets.com or www.seetickets.com
