The Stables welcomes Navaro to its Stage 2 space later this month.
The band met on the Hertfordshire open mic circuit more than a decade ago.
At the time, Beth Navaro was signed to indie label 'Halo' and was looking for fellow musicians to perform with. Meeting Steve and Pete, who were both experienced singer-songwriters themselves did more than just provide willing backing musicians.
The label boss came to a rehearsal and said if you form a band we'll sign you. This happy circumstance led to Under Diamond Skies.
That album was reflective and at times intense as band members worked though personal tragedies and found a measure of healing in the music itself. Consequently the bond between the trio was and is strong.
Many live appearances followed including arts centres, festivals and support slots for the likes of Fairport Convention and Colin Blunstone.
The Heartlands album captured the live band line-up and many of the songs that had been waiting for their moment.
New album, So Long Wichita is a ten song collection, and the title track and even the impetus to record again came from an encounter with a legendary songwriter.
Jimmy Webb was speaking and performing for Radio4. One of Navaro was in the audience and was so forcibly reminded of the importance to him of the era that Webb is part of, that he went home and immediately wrote a song in homage.
The next day he sent the song to Jimmy Webb via his wife who handles his correspondence. She graciously replied and said she was listening to it on the plane back to NY and how it brought tears to her eyes. She said she'd play it to Jimmy and with that kind response the energy was found to record 'Navaro 3'.
Navaro will play live on Stage 2 at The Stables on Saturday, March 30.
