ON TRACK: JERSEY BUDD SET FOR NEW MK FESTIVAL INTO THE WILD
A new festival launches in Milton Keynes next week - Into the Wild has a sterling line-up, a picturesque setting and an easy-on-the-finances ticket price...
The line-up for the three day event - running 11-13 July at The Hounslow Hall Estate - includes The Basics, Beans on Toast, K and Jersey Budd.
Leicester's Jersey Budd is regularly compared to Dylan and Springsteen, but with a decidedly modern edge, and his favourable, honest music has been heard far and wide - Jersey has supported artists including his friends and contemporaries Kasabian, James Morrison and the late, great John Martyn.
Jersey answered our On Track questions...
The song that first awakened your musical senses
Like a Rolling Stone, Bob Dylan
Physical or digital - how do you take your music?
I can see the benefits in both, but you can't beat the sound on vinyl
The first time you thought - 'music - this is the job for me'
After my first ever gig in a little pub in Leicester, when I was 16
Your best on-stage memory
Being on-stage at Glastonbury in front of thousands of people, with all the flags flying around, and the crowd were amazing
And the worst gig you've ever done
On top of a bus in York
What made you take up the guitar
My friend at college taught me some chords to Oasis and The Beatles and I was hooked straight away
Which one song by an other artist do you wish you'd written
There are loads, but I'll say In My Life by The Beatles
And one - by yourself - which holds special significance
Alone in Piccadilly - it was my Nan's favourite before she passed away
If you could step into the shoes of another musician, living or dead, who would it be and what would you do
John Lennon, and I'd call up Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon etc and have a drink
Are there any current musical influences that you might look to
Loads, Black Keys, Temples, Family Rain
And any genre of music you simply can't stand
Swing
What are you going to be bringing to the Into the Wild line-up?
I'm bringing my band with me and people can expect a loud, uptempo magical show
...and to be prepared for any festival eventuality, what are the three essential items you pack?
Wellies, tent and beer
