“We’ll be as we are when all the fools who doubt us fade away...”
The Icicle Works ‘Hollow Horse’ 1984
Prophetic lyrics, when you consider the fact that over three decades later, the band are still on the road.
Named after the 1960 short story "The Day The Icicle Works Closed" by science fiction author Frederik Pohl, The Icicle Works joined Liverpool's early 1980s 'neo-psychedelia' wave and quickly became part of the cult-like renaissance movement that included Echo And The Bunnymen, The Teardrop Explodes, Wah!, Heat, and OMD.
Almost immediately The Icicle Works scored a string of highly rated hit albums and singles all over the world.
Despite personnel changes along the way, the current line-up have been together since 2006, and original front man (singer / guitarist Ian McNabb) believes they're stronger and better than ever before - after honing the set and the performance for the past 10 years, that's to be expected.
In addition to leading The Icicle Works since 1981, McNabb has also enjoyed an incredible solo career, performing with artists such as Ringo Starr, Neil Young / Crazy Horse, and Mike Scott of The Waterboys ...
His latest solo album "Star Smile Song" was released in 2017 to rave reviews.
The Icicle Works show's are always an experience for all those who genuinely love great music, and greater musicianship.
Anyone heading along to tonight's (Nov 10) Craufurd Arms gig can expect an extravaganza that incorporates the music of The Icicle Works and Ian McNabb.
