Gain insight into the artists, works and rich themes of MK Gallery’s inaugural exhibition, The Lie of the Land at a special British Sign Language (BSL) only event happening tomorrow (Friday, April 19, Midday-2.30pm)
The tour is suitable for anyone who uses or is learning BSL. It is led by dance artist and choreographer Chisato Minimamura.
The Gallery’s opening exhibition, The Lie of the Land, is designed as a kind of cabinet of curiosities that places Milton Keynes and the new gallery in a playful context.
It looks at changing attitudes towards leisure, culture and landscape over more than 250 years and features works by over 85 artists, architects and designers, including Thomas Gainsborough, J.M.W Turner and Joseph Paxton, Yinka Shonibare CBE, Jeremy Deller and Bridget Riley.
Bethany Mitchell, MK Gallery’s Curator of Inclusion, said: “MK Gallery is open to all and we are delighted to be able to offer these tours to our visitors with additional access needs and their families and/or support workers. The Gallery is a wonderful, accessible social space and we hope that you will enjoy exploring the building and exhibition with us”.
