Charity: Concert to support Parkinson's UK Milton Keynes

The Parkinson’s UK Milton Keynes Committee is inviting local people to a concert, a varied programme of show tunes, traditional songs and amusing poetry by Heart and Music at Loughton Baptist Church on Saturday (September 30).

Verna Moorton, secretary of the MK group committee explains: Approximately 1 person in 500 will get Parkinson's.
"Normally people are 50 years plus, but more younger people are being diagnosed. It is degenerative, sometimes it progresses very quickly, other times it is much slower.
"Often people have the disease for 20 years before the symptoms become apparent and it is diagnosed."

Locally, the charity raise funds and run activities to try to improve the lives of those with the disease, which ultimately they have no control over.

"Music and singing is very good for people with Parkinson's, which is why we are hosting this concert," Verna added.
"We hope that as many local people as possible will attend, and they will have an evening to remember.”
Tickets are £8 which include light refreshments. Call 01908 562738 to book yours. Show time is at 7.30pm.

Funds raised by the event will be used to improve the lives of people living with Parkinson’s locally.
