On Sunday (August 14), Whitespace Studio is taking yoga outdoors in a special festival themed Yoga class at the Peace Pagoda at Willen Lake, in aid of Willen Hospice.
From flower crowns to face glitter, a touch of festival attire is encouraged but not essential.
This is one festival where the wellies can stay at home as free spirited yogis are welcomed to join the class bare foot.
Whether a practiced yogi or a yoga novice, the class is designed to be super relaxed and enjoyable for all levels and ages. No experience is necessary, just an open mind and a rolled out mat. Whitespace will be bringing along some spare mats for those who are keen to try out the practice but don’t own one.
At 1.30pm, Yoga Teacher and Studio Director, Deborah Berryman will lead a fun themed 90-minute open air practice. The class is free but participants are encouraged to make a small donation to local charity, Willen Hospice which will be collected on the day.
Last year, the annual Yoga Social attracted over 150 people with everyone from kids to grandparents taking part. This year is expected to be even bigger with a mixture of experienced practicers as well as new guests - bringing the community together. After the class, everyone is welcomed to bring along food and join in the Yogi Summer Picnic from 3-5pm.
“We were so incredibly thrilled with the successful turnout last year and the way the annual affair unites the community," said Deborah.
"Practicing yoga with so many other people is pretty rare and extraordinary. The energy that comes from everyone flowing through poses at the same time makes such a powerful statement and there’s something very special about being at the Peace Pagoda.”
“We are hoping to attract even more people at this year’s festival themed event. Anyone can come along and experience the beauty of yoga outside. The practice is in aid of Willen Hospice, a local charity that is close to our hearts. We’d be extremely grateful for any donations on the day. We look forward to seeing lots of new faces and introducing them to yoga.”
In case of rain the session will move over the road and take place at the Tree Cathedral where the practice will be sheltered by the formed tree arches.
Gather your friends, family and even dogs for an inspiring and enjoyable outdoor yoga experience. Come down early and have your festival make-up applied by one of the fabulous team members.
